I'm going to approach the /r/WorldPolitics mods and see about getting a sidebar link there.

Most of my subreddits start out with little to no rules, and rules are added as needed as the subreddit grows and evolves and problems arise. This subreddit should be no exception, although I would prefer to let the community moderate itself for as long as possible.

My first goal is to try and restore the community. This is "a forum for in-depth analysis and thoughtful coverage of politics in the United States." Anything else is up for debate and subject to change. I'm starting from scratch. Hopefully users will take it upon themselves to follow the on-topic statement without active moderation. If that proves to be false, we can have a discussion about what rules need to be implemented to solve specific problems that arise. However, at the moment, there aren't any problems, because there aren't any submissions. That itself is the problem ;)

The rules were that you could only submit a self post, but that self post must be centered around a link. No offense to blackstar9000, but I think that change is what singlehandedly killed the activity here. Looking at the moderation log, blackstar9000 only removed spam, he didn't actually moderate content. All I did was restore the subreddit back to links and self posts as it was originally, before the change that stalled the subreddit.

If new problems arise from this, new rules can be drafted. However if no one is submitting any content at all, there really isn't a need for strict rules at this time, don't you agree?

Without any rules or structure r/SotU no longer qualifies for affiliation with the DepthUnderground.

What do you mean? I wasn't aware that /r/DepthHub subreddits needed strict rules. In fact, isn't /r/DepthHub largely community moderated? The rules are similar to /r/bestof, in that there is a strict requirement that all links need to come from the reddit.com domain, but submissions aren't removed for not being "in-depth" enough... that is left to upvotes and downvotes.

Attaching a prefix or label to usernames for differentiation purposes. by Jackkerin TheoryOfReddit

That would be... interesting. We're already seeing the rise of "reddit clans," specifically the major contributors of subreddits frequently featured in /r/SubredditDrama - /r/ShitRedditSays vs. /r/MensRights, /r/libertarian vs. /r/enoughpaulspam, /r/conspiracy vs. /r/conspiratards, etc. However, the idea that a large amount of users from these subreddits (or any subreddit, for that matter) would create new accounts that publicly branded them as members of that community is quite ridiculous in my opinion.

Your submission has been removed because it is not a screenshot from Facebook.

For the record, I voted in the first vote thread (the one that was cancelled), but I forgot to vote in this one. I would have voted , but that wouldn't have changed the outcome of the vote, apparently. I guess we'll wait until they get some more subscribers and hold another vote at a later date.
