I got one of those "come test drive a car and you might, but most likely will not, win a prize" things in my mail. I went in with a friend, 18 at the time, and asked for my prize. Lady walks to the back room, then after sometime comes back with a few managers and all start clapping. I won the free cruise for me n my friend!

I found my school because it was the best school that my home University had relations with. I am currently taking a lot of business courses, and only 6 weeks? That is hardly anytime! If you must go for a summer...I suggest you try to stay longer and explore europe

I haven't had any trouble in GT since I am in a pretty good location in the middle of campus, but most of the muggings happen right off campus in an area called "home park" where groups of friends rent out houses...in the ghetto. But as far as crime goes in Milan, I have not had any issues, mainly since I am a larger guy. But the gypsies will come out to play around the major tourist attraction. Just have to be careful when going to those places

I am living in a residence, but its about 20min by tram away from campus. I cannot really compare it to GT as I live in a fraternity house there and here its more of a hotel that has been "transformed" into apartment style dorms. As far as adjustments, the only major difficulties I had was figuring out the metro/tram systems...but that is normal for most cities anyways

Georgia Tech is great, I love the school! It is hard, but hopefully it pays off in the end

How proficient were you in Italian before you arrived? Has this affected your educational or cultural experience thus far?

I did not know Italian when I came here, yet within the 5 weeks I have been here (will stay for 6 months) I am able to now have simple conversation, order food the way I want it (not just pointing on the menu haha), and get around decently. Aside from being immersed in the culture, I changed all my electronics into Italian and am currently working through Rosetta stone. As far as cultural experiences...I think it has hindered my true immersion since I tend to stick with other exchange students and English speakers, but as my Italian progresses and as I begin branching out to non-english speakers or non-english speaking places (such as the gym) I begin to learn more and experience more. It also might be beneficial to note that I am of Italian decent and, at least visually, fit in.

What are you studying? Why did you choose to study in Italy rather than in the US?

I am studying general business courses at Bocconi. I am currently enrolled at Georgia Tech (US), right now I am studying 1 semester abroad in Italy though. However, I am interested in doing another study abroad term and looking into the masters program here in Italy.

Was there a major obstacle you faced during the application/enrolment/transfer process?

My school was very easy to work with on acceptance/enrollment. I thought the visa would be difficult, but that actually proved to be simple as well. I think in the beginning it looks like a lot of work, but its really just a bunch of random paperwork. The hardest part for me however was making sure my classes would transfer back to GTech, since I am actually an IE major and not business.
