My friend and I made a site, I wanted some feedback on it. The mods at /r/sysadmin removed my post and told me it belonged here. Can I have /r/netsec's opinions? by fordbattlestarin netsec

From what I can surmise, everyone there has been blockaded into a ghetto. They're rationing food and making crude weapons out of paperclips.

Did you notice that it was a secondary blast wave that did it? The first wave--a deflagration--pushes the cover about to the height of the man, then the secondary wave--accompanied by the whitish plume--blows his jactet off and sends the cover shooting upward out of sight. I've never seen that before. You can see it better in this video.

Since I speak Cosby, allow me to translate: He is a black man who profits handsomely from the mispronunciation of common words like "pudding" done for comedic effect. In his spare time he harangues other black people for their language skills.

Is there a way to re-mount a USB flash drive? by MaritMonkeyin mac

[–]Zorak 0 points1 point ago

I'm as baffled as you. OS X is clearly keeping a connection to USB hard drives but not flash. An interesting experiment would be to see what it does with a hard drive that draws all of its power from the USB. This is the only "USB related" difference I can see between my HDs and flash.

Is there a way to re-mount a USB flash drive? by MaritMonkeyin mac

This doesn't appear to work with flash drives. Also, there is a typo in the script (in the do shell command there is an extra }' that will produce an error). It works fine for USB hard drives but not flash.

Is this computer good enough to develop IOS apps? by My_Alibiin mac

Bobbyllama is right, PPC support is dead. The last OS supported was Leopard; Apple has released two OS revs since then. The current version of Xcode (4.X) requires Lion and Lion requires a 64 bit Intel processor. You need at least a Core Duo 2 (ie, 64 bit) Intel machine. Note that this also eliminates the first generation of Intel macs--they only had a Core Duo (32 bit) CPU. If you get a iMac that is "late 2006" or newer you should be fine. The Mac Mini didn't go 64 bit till "middle 2007." All the Intel Mac Pros are 64 bit.

If in doubt, use MacTracker and check to make sure the model you're looking at has a 64 bit Intel processor.

ANNIE: Miss Daniels wants to see how we conduct ourselves during a fire drill. I'd like you to...

CHILDREN: (grumbling in Unison) A fire drill? This is our play period, Miss Hayworth! Gee whiz!

ANNIE: I'd like you to show her how quiet and obedient you can be.

[The children fall silent.]

ANNIE: We're going to go out of the school now. Those of you who live nearby can go directly home. I want the rest of you to go down the hill, all the way to the hotel. Do you understand?

CHILDREN: All the way down the hill? Gee, Miss Hayworth, we never... Home? Why do we...?

ANNIE: (shushing them) I want you to go as quietly as you can, not a sound, until I tell you to run. And then I want you to run as fast as you can. Does everyone understand? (pause - silence) All right. John, would you lead the class, please?
