Won my first race last night - had to share it with everyone by darktechkellyin iRacing

Congrats man! What car are you driving?

I distinctly remember my first win, coincidentally my first pole. Seriously a great feeling. I'm still looking for my first win on the road side.

Edit: in all seriousness, it depends on the type of interview. Dev, Support, Admin, Design, Reporting, Architecture? SharePoint has so many facets to it very few people are expected to know them all. On a basic level, their pretty digestible.

r/Nascar, where do you buy your diecast cars? by iamdan1in NASCAR

[–]Ozzred 2 points3 points ago

I typically get one or two a year from the flea market type areas outside the track. They'll usually barter with you if you want more then one item, and since most of the items are last years models their usually a bit less expensive as well. Plus many of them have some older and more unique ones as well. Referring to the nomads, not the official driver trailers.

Any tips for iracing? by Obscura48in iRacing

[–]Ozzred 1 point2 points ago

First off know that you're not alone. Auto racing (sim or RL) is very difficult, takes a lot of practice, studying, and patience. So please don't let your first week or 4 make you feel as though you won't be able to have fun and compete.

A few things that may be helpful.

  • Read and understand the comments previously posted. There's a lot of great tips in there and don't be afraid to post more questions. Even for specific stuff.

  • If you haven't done so, watch all of the iRacing driving school videos. There available under the resources section of the members page, as well there is a link in the FAQ for this sub-reddit.

  • Set small, accomplishable goals at the start. From one of you're replies, I believe you're on the right path with that. Goal 1 - run an incident free race. What do you have to do accomplish that? Perhaps skip qual and start from the back. This has a few nice advantages such as. If you do make a mistake, you're less likely to take out a bunch of other drivers. Your nerves should be a bit more relaxed as your not starting right in the middle of the pack. And, you should be able to run a safe, more comfortable pace. Once you get that goal under you're belt, you can set the next one - perhaps a podium finish, then a win, and so on. This approach allows you to continue to feel improvement while also sharpening your skills.

  • Watch replays of both your own laps as well as other more experienced racers. I can't tell you how valuable this can be. Even simply reviewing your laps with other faster drivers in practice session can help you see if you're running the right line, braking early or late, and turn in points. A nice trick with this is watching faster drivers run from their cockpit. If you slow down the replay or even pause it you can pick out what they may be using for their marks.

Good luck out there and feel free to keep the questions coming in.

Perhaps this, as well as all the other pre-season rule manipulation, will be all that NASCAR needs to make a change to the top 35 rule prior to next season. /FingersCrossed

Touchtune Jukeboxes are Ruining Bars by ROTLAin philadelphia

[–]Ozzred 4 points5 points ago

Ok, I understand what he's saying and I respect his opinion on it.. That said, I disagree. At my local, I've turned a lot of people on to Umphrey's McGee which I never could have in a traditional scenario. Plus, how great is it to not have to hear the same crap over and over and over. Even the greatest song or album can get old and played out. Having worked in a bar throughout HS and college, I can tell you that happened more often then selection was updated.

So ya, we can no longer define a bar by it's music. Nor can we keep a single genre available and entice the stereotypical crowd associated with that genre. Subsequently, we can't use those same stereotypes to keep people out based on the genre. In trade, we can play that certain tune that's perfect for the moment. We can play stuff nobody's ever heard before. And we can occasionally suffer with the selections of other patrons who benefit from those same trade-offs.

I'd still like to do it. We had a few people for the first run, but I didn't get any feedback so I wasn't sure if there was much interest. I'm certainly up for hosting another. Got a track / Car combo you'd like to run?
